Lethal IQT Progress

Cadet/IP: Lethal / Zeus
Check Ride #: IQT-1 / IQT-2
Check Ride Date: 3 Jan 2021
Score: Pass

Debrief: Along with the new year please join me in welcoming Lethal, one of our recent cadets. Lethal has had a fair amount of Viper stick time but this is his first BMS VFW and is off to a great start with today's IQT-1 flight. He's got a smooth hand on the jet which allowed him to execute some great tac turns and get on the boom fairly quickly to grab some gas. He's also got a good grasp of the basic SOPs already. Looking forward to mixing things up in the next couple flights to see how he handles himself in combat.

Great work!

My first ever multiplayer flight ever was also with Zeus in IQT-1 and he's made a (half) decent pilot out of me. Sounds like you had a much smoother time of it than I did, well done.

Cadet/IP: Lethal / Zeus
Check Ride #: IQT-2
Check Ride Date: 10 Jan 2021
Score: Pass

Debrief: Lethal continues on his IQT journey completing IQT-2 today with flying colors. We took off from Kunsan and rejoined as we headed up to our CAP station practicing a couple tac turns along the way. Once on station, it didn't take long before we encountered some Tu-16s coming in - Lethal quickly dispatched the lead while I cleaned up the leaker. Back on station we were soon advised of an incoming pair of MiG-23s. Turning north we sorted the targets and launched our slammers - the MiGs went down moments after. In our final engagement, we simulated a leaker by having Lethal only engage a single -29 in the incoming pair then turn tail and run allowing me to clear his six. After that it was off for a quick splash of fuel and a little missile evasion practice - both of which went quite well. We landed back at Kunsan and are ready to take on the next challenge. Keep up the good work Lethal!

Thanks Bull, and same goes to you!

There is certainly tons to learn, I don't think there has been a single flight so far where I haven't walked away learning something new about the jet or tactics. For example, I learned today that accidentally hitting the "alt. gear" switch instead of the conveniently closely placed "canopy close" switch will disable you from going into NWS! Certainly made for a bit of an interesting start to last nights flight, shout out to Zeus for the quick troubleshooting!

Cadet/IP: Lethal / Zeus
Check Ride #: IQT-3
Check Ride Date: 20 Jan 2021
Score: Pass

Debrief: Another great flight with Lethal - actually two flights! We completed all the objectives on the first flight but lost an a/c in the process and Lethal didn't want to end on that note so we flew it again. Both flights had some really good engagements with Lethal and I trading off roles on the initial merges and ultimately splitting the kills pretty evenly. The two flight really allowed Lethal to demonstrate his knowledge of our SOP and his ability to maintain SA so he should be good to go to take a seat in pick-up flights in a limited A-A role for now. Can't wait to get started on the ground-pounding exercises!

Nice formation take-off.

Debrief: And Lethal's advance through IQT continued this morning with another great flight - this time focusing on some ground pounding skills. We started with a low-level strike then on to rippling some cluster munitions and topping off with fuel before heading to the range. Lethal demonstrated some pretty good pattern work at the range and did a nice job putting weapons on target. Looking forward to seeing how he does at night!
