Battman IQT Progress

Post by Derk » Fri Apr 10, 2020 9:13 pm

Cadet/IP: Battman / Derk
Check Ride #: IQT-1
Check Ride Date: 09 April 2020
Score: Pass

Debrief: “Holy Falcon! It’s ‘Battman’!” Please help me welcome “Battman” to IQT as we wrapped up the objectives for IQT-1 last night. Battman’s been with us for a few weeks now as he has been working steadily on stick and jet handling skill solo and in some MP training sessions. The learning curve is steep, but his dedication and hard work solo to “do it right” has paid off and we were able to run through a series of formations and tac turns last night. These showed improvements over past training flights and were solid enough to push north to engage a group of hostile transports to practice some AA engagement basics while working on flight SA and rejoins. There’s more work to do and Battman is very positive to get it done, and done right.

Nice work on the continued effort, and looking forward to flying IQT-2 with you.

Derk

Thank you 440th for the kind words!

I have to keep telling myself, I am only experiencing just what others have met while going through IQT. I have seen and experienced why the 440th is considered among the best VFW's in the world, and I will continue to do my part by learning to fly from the best!

Thank you again,

Battman

Nice Job Battman and keep with it. We all know the challenges you're currently facing. They are tough ones but you will be proud of the accomplishment once you complete it and then the real fun can begin.

Cadet/IP: Battman / Derk
Check Ride #: IQT-2
Check Ride Date: 30 April 2020
Score: Pass

Debrief: Last night Battman completed the objectives for IQT-2 after some hard work and study to get the BVR operations 'down right'. This has taken a few practice flights and ground school time to get him up to speed on the systems, but Battman has stuck with it well and showing improvement in flights. Last night we were joined by Tech and able to setup a 3-ship grinder with two elements. Battman's hit ratio with the AIM-120 was 100% with 5 off and 5 hits. Battman will continue to work on situational awareness and learning all there is to know to tame the Viper, but he’s ready for the job.

Nice job completing BVR operations Batt – now on learn Dogfighting!

Cadet/IP: Battman / Derk
Check Ride #: IQT-3
Check Ride Date: 14 May 2020
Score: Pass

Debrief: Last night Battman completed the objectives for IQT-3 with a HAVCAP flight using only AIM-9’s. We had just one practice round in the dogfighting arena to get his skill level up, but his practice solo seemed to work well in the mission flight as he finished the first two engagements in short time. After grabbing some fuel on the tanker, we engaged a MiG-23 with Battman spotting and pressing into shot position. This disrupted the MiG enough that I was able to finish him with an easy missile shot to wrap up the flight since we were getting low on fuel. Battman continues to work hard at building proficiency in BMS and the effort is paying off.

Good work Battman! Keep with it as we hit the ground strike flights in IQT.
