JD “Chameleon” Jesonis: RIP

Post by AV8R » Wed Jan 16, 2019 7:10 am

Cham, of whom many of you have known from the 1stVFW has passed today, succumbing to internal infection complications.

Ive known JD since I first started flying Falcon4 and joined his squad and learned the Viper from him. Cham was an USAF Major and a Viper and Eagle driver and IP. He got his callsign because he was able to succeed in dogfight training by going under the radar and blend into the terrain like a chameleon. He loved flying for reals and simulation. He was at his best teaching and creating realistic missions.

We have done flown, driven, shooters ever since. We also share a common background as Electrical Engineers, sports cars and shared the same faith in Christ— of whom he is with currently.

Well Cham, you got that ultimate software and hardware upgrade before me... i concede, you win. See you up there brother.

Cheers and RIP

Gentlemen, i was truly gutted when i read my text this morning, i was talking to his wife not 2 days ago and knew the prognosis was not good, but I did not think that i would be waking up to a text message this morning that we had lost a true friend. We truly have a huge hole in our hearts today.

We will be holding some sort of memorial for Cham in the near future, we will keep you guys in the loop, not sure when or what yet as we re still all in shock this morning.

Rest easy JD

Ah Crud! He was such a nice guy to me when we hung out in TS over at the first. We shared active duty time together in the AF and always had something to chat about. Such a loss. Thanks for passing on this bitter news. RIP Cham...

Hey guys.

I've just heard the news. He was a great guy, an awesome teacher, I learned a lot from him and it was an honor to have benefited from his experience.

May he rest in peace, my condolences to his family and friends, some of which are here in this wing also.

Cham, as AV said was an outstanding man. Loved flight, both real and sim and was a great instructor of the way it should be done. It was truly an honor and a pleasure to not only fly with him, but to have had the opportunity to call him a friend. He will be sorely missed!!

Please keep his family in your prayers!!!

Devastating news! I truly enjoyed his personality, attitude, humor and vast knowledge! He was a wonderful man and I'm just profoundly sad to here this horrible news. I hope his family is doing okay after such a sad loss!

RIP and Godspeed Cham.

Hi AV8R,

Puma257 here, just hit this side by chance. I'm very shocked hearing the news about Cham; I cannot believe it. Where did you get that news from?
Cham and I were very close. He taught me so much about air combat and flying in general. Actually, he played a part in me getting my pilots license.
We at the Talons FG had some great time together.
So sad.

Thanks for stopping by Puma. The news came from contacts over at the 1st VFW where Cham was a member at the time. Thanks for sharing the info about how guys like him can be a positive influence within the general sim community.

A sad loss.
Owing to time zone differences I didnt get to fly with Cham that often back in the days of the first. But I remember him taking the time to help me with BFM. When we did fly I was always struck by his professionalism and the ease with which he was able to perform all tasks.
Good luck Cham, wherever you fly to next.
