Debrief: Please help me welcome 'Doc' to IQT, again. Doc had a short start about a year ago until real life called him away a bit. But BMS has called him back and we got the ball rolling again with a busy IQT-1. I think we knocked off most of the rust running through all the Formations, tac turns, and comms, all of which had a nice solid start. We made a few mock runs on transport aircraft to let him test is readiness for IQT-2, and those were all fine. The few times he strayed a bit away he was able to quickly assess and get back into position. The air refuel went well and soon we were in a nice close formation for the overhead break approach to Kunsan. Just a little bobble at the end, but he quickly recovered for smooth landing. Definitely ready for IQT-2.
Nice job Doc, and welcome back!

EOR Lineup at Kunsan before departure Tac Turns all over - even some delayed 45's and off heading turns Sittin smooth on the air refuel - I think he was sending a text message! Close formation for the approach Echelon on final before the break turn

Debrief: Last night Doc wrapped up the objectives for IQT-2. We did this in a practice TE with a bunch of MiG-29’s to make up for the one’s that never showed in the IQT-2 flight. This was a good call as requested by Doc as it gave enough experience to show he has a good handle on Air to Air engagements in BVR. With about 6 engagements we wracked up 8 or so kills and Doc was able to keep up with the many flight lead calls and redirects for engagements as MiG’s came at us in all directions. It was a good practice after having a few rusty joints on the IQT flight that needed worked out. He’s seems up to speed and ready for BVR now.
Good work Doc!

View of the Combat Departure out of Kunsan. Doc followed with a quick rejoin. Fox 3 off the rail at a Tu-16 bomber. Well timed shots on MiG-23's followed with a coordinated crank and pump Another organized run in on MiG-29's, with another group close behind On the boom in the IQT flight just before missile evasion practice

Debrief: Last night Doc completed the objectives for IQT-3. After a short round of practice last week in the dogfighting arena, he was looking ready, and showed it in the IQT flight. On the first MiG engagements he was IN on the hostiles with missile shots before I could even get into a good spot for a picture, let alone get into the fight. This showed good support from a wingman who quickly transitioned into engaged fighter. After a short fuel-up on the tanker, we finished with another MiG engagement that Doc lead us through and resulted in another quick kill. Good thing too as my call of the Mig’s missile launch force his immediate defensive turn, but he was still able to get the Splash on the Mig and successfully dodged the missile. We wrapped up with a TRP approach into Yechon to complete the flight.
Nice work prepping and in the flight Doc! On to the ground strike part of IQT now.
Derk
Close formation take-off with Doc just off the left wing Quick shot of a quick kill on a Mig-21 Only took one turn to get this shot off Good splash shot on our last Mig engagement...little did I know the Mig's missile had looped and was on my tail! Missed me fortunately. Doc parks nearby for a close-up!

Those Migs must have had a Do Not Resuscitate Order because you're killing it, Doc! Nice job.

Debrief: Last night Doc completed the objectives for IQT-4. Our flight left Yechon for a short run until dropping low for a run at the runway target at 500 feel and 500 knots to deliver BLU-107’s. Nice hits from Doc and back in the climb to spot moving tank columns. Doc found a group and made a turn in to release some Mk-20D cluster bombs, but the units moved out of the way just in time. After a short air refuel, we headed to the KOTAR range to release BDU-33’s using the 30- and 20-degree dive bomb profile. Doc’s hits were right on the target along with nice pattern and comms work. We wrapped up the quick flight with a nice TRP approach back into Yechon.
Good job Doc!

Debrief: This evening Doc completed the objectives for IQT-5. We had a successful run tonight for Doc, and were joined by Wrench to help out from the #3 seat. Our first target was the SA-2, which Doc hit with a well-timed HARM shot after I trespassed to light it up. Moving on we took out additional SA-2’s, but were unable to light up the Low Blow at the SA-3 target for a HARM shot. Low on fuel we ran to the tanker for a top-off, then back to work on the SA-3 defense area. Wrench shot suppression HARMs while I launched a Mav at the Low Blow. Both missed, but Wrench was my hero and dove in to take the bullet and eat the SA-3 missiles which allowed my safe escape. Doc was redirected with data link mark points to alternate SAM launchers and scored two good hits. We wrapped up the flight with a safe ILS approach into Kangnung.
Nice work and Doc looks ready to wrap up IQT with the next flight!

Debrief: Please help me welcome Doc to the 222nd Gamblers! Tonight, we wrapped up IQT with a smooth flight, having 100% hits on all objective targets. After our strike on the harbor with GBU-38’s Doc spotted up a moving tank column which he made two runs in with LGB’s on my laser spotting. Both were good hits on tanks and Doc moved out to the orbit to spot and lase two targets for me. Before we finished one full orbit, both of us had hits with our laser bombs and were off to the tanker. It was a fast refuel and were quickly off to have fun with the 30-degree lofting of CBU’s at ground air defense units. After that Doc lead us back to Kunsan to wrap up IQT-6 with and overhead break approach.
Congrats Doc! Look forward to seeing you in Wing mission flights soon.
Derk
EOR Checks before departing Kangnung - loaded heavy! Solid hits from all four of our bombs on the harbor Sitt'in smooth on the boom! Post strike BDA from the lofted cluster bombs Doc leads us into the overhead break at Kunsan - IQT Complete!
