Rolling Fire - Mission #37

ATO

Briefing:
Small tank groups are still moving in from the west towards Wonsan that threaten our blue forces that have just captured the city. An AI flight is fragged with LGB's to reduce these forces as much as possible. With Nachodka online though, the four-ship BARCAP will need to be in full strength as there are already MiG-29S and MiG-31 groups in the area.

ROLLING FIRE - Mission 41

Short notice pick-up flight for tomorrow.

Intel is showing four groups of MiG's coming south out of Nachodka. Sweep missions are fragged to eliminate these. It's doubtful the tanker will be on station by the time we get there, so we'll plan for what we can do with both wing bags. AI flight is fragged to strike ground units just west of Wonsan if the air picture and pilot availability allows.

Rolling Fire: Mission 42

Time:18:00Z (03:00LT)
Weather: Fair but turning Poor at landing time. (Night Ops).

Briefing:
After narrowly escaping the PRC strike on Kangnung just after our last flight departed, recovery was needed at our Alternate - Sockcho. Since this base lacks the supplies to rearm and refuel our jets, area command loaded us all on transports and whisked us off quickly to Kunsan where our 222nd squadron fighters sit at our ready.

Area of Operation:
Our mission is to strike the Taebukpo-ri Airstrip and Koksan Highway Strip to stop the MiG-21 and J-5 flights from launching and striking blue ground forces that have secured the Wansan area. Secondary target is undamaged segments of the short runway at the Koksan Airbase.

Threats:
This should be a quick in-and-out mission with no refuel so we'll all be back home safe with our families in time for the ball drop. The trick will be to evade all of the MiG-31 and Su-27 sweeps over Wonsan, only 60 nm to the NE, until 'after' the strike!

Rolling Fire: Mission 47

Strategic Strike flight added to original ATO.

Time:06:20 Z (15:20LT)
Weather: Fair but turning Poor at landing time.

Briefing:
Air threats have been reduced to a few MiG-17's but they continue to launch from small airbases and threaten to our ground forces. Armor units around Haeju have also been eliminated by our A.I. flights in the past two missions. This mission will strike three bases to regain air superiority so we can continue 'Search and Destroy' operations on ground armor units to clear the way for the final push to Pyongyang.

OCA flights will target airstrips while Strike flight targets strategic targets. All flights will need to watch air picture and engage only when necessary.

Intel shows no heavy SAM activity, but AAA and MANPAD's should be expected once deeper into red land.
Weather is turning Fair shortly after take off and will continue to turn towards IMC conditions by the return of the mission. All flights are out of Osan with an alternate at Kimpo. No AAR operations, but prepare for ILS approaches.

OOB
- 36th - Osan
