OPERATION: NIGHT WING
This is mission #2 of a 4-part series.
Time: 07:30 Z (16:30 LT)
Weather: Fair
Situation:
With the recent attack on the Kilchu Nuclear Facility, the DPRK government has become very erratic with continued claims the site was decommissioned and other military activity. Most recent was a move to pull all military assets 25 nm north of the DMV line, claiming the area is contaminated with nuclear fallout. NATO has confirmed there is no evidence to this claim. Additionally, the DPRK government has made a press release indicating retaliation – stating that Seoul would soon be seen burning. NATO forces have been alerted for possible air strike or SCUD missile attacks from the north.
Game Plan:
At 07:30 Z (16:30 LT), Operation Night Wing will commence with a 30-minute BARCAP rotation in airspace blocks north of Seoul for the purpose of protecting the city from possible air strikes. The 222nd Gambler’s package is assigned airspace sectors from 0800 to 0830, launching from Kimpo AB starting at 0752 Z. The package is authorized to attack any hostile fighter or bomber aircraft.

Briefing: Warhawk 1 - BARCAP - 3-ship
Great mission for this afternoon Wing flight with successful outcome and many positive comments on entertainment value. Thanks to Bull for his time developing the story line and TE mission files.
Warhawk 1 opted for the Combat Departure since the CAP area was only 40 nm NW. Soon after this we were split into elements and pressing in on the first contact - MiG-21's. These were easily dispatched with our AIM-120's. Next were multiple groups of Tu-16 and Tu-95 bombers in multiple groups of 2 and 4. More 120 shots and we were soon Missile State Yellow with 15 minutes left to CAP. Quick thinking wingmen transitioned to guns on the bombers as other wingmen sanitized the airspace allowing us destroy about 8 bombers, and turn back two others, successfully defending Seoul for our assigned block of time.

Chasing down Tu-95's for a guns shot Close formation on RTB Flight in echelon for the approach
