Debrief: STAC knocked out another IQT flight last night with Blitz riding along to provide both color commentary and act as adversary later in the flight; a decision we would later regret.
Just like his first flight, STAC demonstrated that he already has a great grasp of our SOPs and really knows how to maintain formation and execute tac turns - he even managed to refuel in the turn again. It was, as the line goes, some of the best flying I'd seen...right up tot he part where he got killed. During our missile evasion practice, STAC was the victim of taking our ROEs literally (not that he meant to). During the attack he never broke the 20nm MAR but the problem was he was still in his crank and his adversary (deadly pilot Blitz) had already launched and was in full egress mode which meant STAC was simply getting dragged into the missile's envelope. By the time he realized this it was too late and his evasion failed. But a really good lesson was learned and one we should all heed; if your distance to the bandit suddenly stops shrinking its not because you executed a great crank...its more likely due to your adversary launching and leaving so you better get going as well! Anyway, despite that unplanned finish, STAC demonstrated everything else needed to complete IQT-2. On to dog fighting!
