Debrief: Please help me welcome “Venom” to the 440th IQT. Venom and I go back a couple years as I was his IP with another vWing, and glad to see his return. During our ‘IP Intro’ meeting, I snuck in an extended BMS test connection where Venom basically proved he was solid on the IQT-1 objectives. So, his first official flight into IQT was IQT-2, which went very well considering the advanced difficulties of these 4.34 MiG’s. The first engagement was in and over in no time with both Tu-16’s splashed from his TWS shots. The feisty MiG-23’s bracketed us and dropped from radar and caused some issues with one leaking by, but we both coordinated a plan and got a splash on him quickly. For the MiG-29 engagement we set up a counter-rotating cap which allowed Venom to drive in at both, getting a quick kill on one. Again, they bracketed causing one to drop from radar, but after a second turn-in Venom got the second one too.
Nice job, and welcome back Venom!
Derk
Line-up for the Combat Departure at Kunsan Splash on a Tu-16. The second one was hit and smoking (far left of pic) MiG-29 engagements 1 and 2. Venom got hits even after having to go Defensive quickly after Pitbull Splash of fuel Echelon left for the approach to the over-head break at Kunsan.

Debrief: Venom was quickly back at it again last night, completing the objectives for IQT-3. This was another good flight considering the ‘technical issues’ with the MiG’s while in ACM. (that’s our story and we’re sticking to it!). So after a restart Venom was able to knock down all four MiG’s with missiles or guns, and I don’t believe I needed to fire a shot. His ability to keep an eye on the fight and close quick for a kill looked easy, though I’m sure he was right on top of the stick with a high stress level…as I was. These 4.34 bandits are quite tricky now. Communications in the merge and the entire flight was solid and we wrapped it up with a nice TRP approach into Yechon.
Nice work Venom! On to the air to surface part of IQT.
Derk
Zero Interval departure from Kunsan Venom in close for a guns splash Got this one running low Nice turn-in for a quick splash This was the MiG-29 hardly into the merge

These 4.34 bandits are quite tricky! Almost like they don't want to be shot down!
Kudos to the Falcon BMS team for impressive AI realism in this new release. SAM sites too! Whoa!
Continued thanks to Derk for fantastic training! Surprised he's still willing to be my IP, as I almost shot him down (darn MIG got in my way).

Check Ride #: IQT-4
Check Ride Date: 17 August 2019

Debrief: Last night Venom completed the objectives for IQT-4. Thanks to Blitz for coming along for extra credit and to help full the KOTAR pattern. Since both of these guys have been through the standard BLU-107 strike, we mixed it up a bit and did a run in using Offset Angle points entered into the Destination page. These are handy to learn if you don’t want a straight and level approach into a hot target as these can make you an easy target. After this run, we climbed up and spotted the moving tanks that eventually all lined up in a nice easy row to pick off, though CBU’s released from 15K can miss as we found out. After a bit of time on the tanker we were in on the KOTAR range for the dive bomb run which went well. We all kept a nice tight pattern with good comms and really good hits on the dive bomb runs. I think we all had 100% hits on the strafing runs too. Soon we were in the TRP approach at Yechon to wrap up the flight.
Looking nice and solid so far in IQT Venom!
Derk
EOR Line-up at Yechon in the Red Tails Venon in fast and low for the OA1 Mass destruction of the runway from our Durandals Looked very smooth on the boom, so I pulled in for a close-up Direct Hits like this for many of the releases. Bonus pic - Blitz dragged some CBU's all the way to KOTAR - let them out at the end for grand finale'.

Check Ride #: IQT-5
Check Ride Date: 24 August 2019
Score: Pass
Debrief: On Saturday night Venom completed the objectives for IQT-5. We had Blitz along for the ride again who helped silence the SA-3 with a Maverick for us after our HARMs failed to do it. But we were able to hit the SA-2’s pretty good, so our path was clear for the Mav run. Before we did that we needed some fuel and Venom showed his ability by closing in and connecting in a turn in minimal time. After our AAR we made a run at some SA-2’s and SA-3 launchers before coming off the coast and shooting the ILS approach into Kangnung. It was a nice smooth flight and we’re excited to move on and wrap up IQT soon.
Looking forward to our final IQT soon Venom!

TGP view of the Fan Song in flames from Venoms POS HARM shot SA-2 site silenced Connecting in the turn at night - nice! Shack on the SA-3 launcher target sent to Venom via data link ground target Kangnung ILS approach short final (a little low for a better picture angle...yea....thats my story - sticking to it!)

Check Ride Date: 31 August 2019

Debrief: Please help me welcome Venom to the 222nd Gamblers! Last night we completed the objectives for IQT-6 to wrap up the IQT course. Venom brought some good experience from a previous wing, but I was glad to be able to share some new things with him along the way through IQT. Our flight went well and we were joined by Blitz for a bit. The GBU-38 strike went very well, on the second run, as we learned that CBU’s don’t do much to solid harbor targets. We were greatly challenged by low clouds for our buddy lasing run with LGB’s on moving tank columns which drove us under 10K altitude. This became a big issue for Blitz who dipped barely into manpad range and was unable to pull clear after we both realized the SAM launch. Venom and I completed the run and headed south for a short air refuel, then went on to make two lofting passes on ground units. Leaving many units in flames we headed south to wrap up the flight with Venom leading us back to Kunsan for a nice approach into the overhead break.
Congrats on completing IQT Venom, and welcome to the 222nd!
