CT - Seek and Destroy

Post by Sly » Fri Nov 02, 2018 9:20 pm

Yesterday Zeisig an I flew "The Killbox Sortie".
Our Trainings Killbox was Koon-Ni R-79B 90 Nm north of Kunsan AB.

Within the Killbox there were several Battalions of T-55, SA-6 and Sa-3.
Our primary goal was take out the radar vehicles Straight Flash and Low Blow.
Secondary targets were the SAM launchers.

In this scenario air superiority has been already gained, so we didn't have to care
about A-A threats.

We took off with the maximum of weapon load (2xAIM-120B 2xAIM-120BC, 6xAGM-65D, 4xCBU-97 SFW, AN/AQQ-33 and AN/ALQ-184) no bags!
So the first thing to do was heading to the tanker to get some fuel.

After that both of us were searching the Killbox. Every time a Straight Flash or a Low Blow was
found a data link was sent. Lead then sorted the targets and we went in to take them out of order!

Since we did not have external tanks, time on station for this task was very short.
So every time we hit Bingo-state, we went back to the tanker for refueling.
Also evading the missiles in that heavy conditions took a log of fuel.

One time we had little problems with the tanker, so we played it safe and went to Kunsan
for a hot pit refuel.

After there was no radar left within the Killbox the rest of the mission was a piece of cake!

So it took us almost 4 hour and 3 times of air to air refueling to accomplish this mission successfully - insane! ;-)

Thanks to Zeisig for joining the mission and his patience! :-)

Real nice after action report and pics! Length of flight and strategic plan sounds something like a real mission could be like.
