Re: Birddogs Double Dragon Reload

DD-11 Debrief - Falcon1 (OCA) The plan was simple - head north to take out an airbase. The details were set; follow Cobra5 and let them launch their HARMs just before we enter the SA-10 WEZ then lob our GBU-39s and get out of there. The enemy had other plans... Our initial ingress was thwarted by ho...

Mission 2 - Debrief Great flight today even if our results were less than spectacular. We gained valuable insight into the enemy disposition and potential tactics as well as bringing all the jets home. Given the small number of pilots, the mission was reduced to a single TASMO flight carrying a tota...

Operation: Downtown

Between the recent news story about the latest North Korean missile launch and catching Flight of the Intruder on TV Sunday morning (probably more of the later than the former), I have decided it's time to go....Downtown. Operation: Downtown Time: 20:00Z (05:00LT) Briefing: After the recent missile ...

Mission 1 Debrief Our mission was limited to performing a quick sweep of the area due to limited number of pilots. However, we were able to confirm the location of the CIS carrier group and we definitely drew the attention of several Su-33 flights away from the Korean side of the battle. Having a s...

Re: OpenTrack Questions

Sounds like a calibration / setting issue. I also use TrackIR not OpenTrack so it might not be a perfect comparison, but I would suggest a small dead zone and a very shallow shaping/mapping so that it ramps up very slowly until you really crack your head around.

Re: Battery switch

I encourage anyone that is even thinking about building a pit to give it a try. My advice would be... Start with a small proof of concept, just to make sure you see what it takes. A couple buttons mounted on a shoebox would work. IAlso HIGHLY recommend using Leo Bodnar boards for your interface (onl...

Re: Birddog's Double Dragon

If the SA-10 is indeed operational, we are going to need at least 2 pilots tasked with taking that out and they will need to do simultaneous launches of at least 4 HARMS from different directions in an attempt to overwhelm that battalion.

Re: Birddog's Double Dragon

Birddog hosted a nice little practice flight last night, in prep for a campaign mission to strike the carrier. It was just 3 of us taking on the carrier task force including a squadron of enemy aircraft based on the carrier. We used the KF-16C-52s carrying 2 HARMs each to test out some tactics from ...

Re: Birddog's Double Dragon

Assuming we are trying to win the campaign, keep the following in mind... DPRK wins independently only if DPRK forces own P’yongyang, Wonsan, Koksan, Changyon, Chongjin and Tan-tung Or Combined NATO and DPRK forces win if P’yongyang, Wonsan, Koksan and Changyon are captured in less than 10 campaign ...

Re: DEAD/SEAD PRACTICE

Definitely a fun flight with lots of lessons to learn. I would add that, with proper mark point data, a single GBU-39 pass could take out a unit. The keys to both the AGM-154 and GBU-39 strikes are 1) getting the vehicles to stop (H/K tactics work here) and 2) being able to ID targets in TGP for mar...
